My vision
Plants have
their own name
The fact that we are so unfamiliar with the plants in our own personal environments gives food for thought.
Do you know how it feels to be completely at home
in the landscape and in the world?
Because that is what you experience when you learn
more about herbs and wild plants in your area.
You’re no longer looking at a green wall, but you recognise plants,
knowing their names, histories, plant constituents and their effects.
Safety first
Wild foraging is trending, Pick Your Own Farms are hot, and the Antigifcentrum (i.e. the Poison Control Centre in Flanders) knows all about it. Don’t play with your life!
I always let you start from
solid safety regulations.
That can range from reliable plant identification to information about parasites and how you can prevent contamination. Soil pollution, air pollution, cyanobacteria, botulism, pyrrolizidine alkaloids, deadly poisonous lookalikes, you name it: I will provide you with all the information you need to work safely.
Develop resilience
and let it grow veerkracht
Knowledge about herbs makes you more complete. You know that nature offers you food and first aid.
It is the knowledge of our ancestors, and it’s imprinted in our souls. High time to reawaken it.
A lot of things are going on the world,
but this knowledge is something that you can
fall back on for the rest of your life.
Sustainable relations
Wild foraging does not mean grabbing.
Wild foraging means building
a sustainable relation with your environment.
Because how can you stand up
for something you don’t even really know?
You will learn from me which plants are on the protected list and the so-called ‘red list’ (and what the difference is between them), both in Belgium and in The Netherlands.
You will also learn why you need to harvest flowers differently from leaves, which other animals are depending on the plant you are harvesting, and how you can harvest and use plants in a sustainable way.
Experience connection
with all your senses
Imagine that instead of waiting in line at the checkout with elevator music in the background, you could also take a stroll in nature to gather your ingredients there …
You went out to get some air, you smelled a few plants, maybe you even encountered a wild animal, you enjoyed the sun (or the rain, it IS possible!), and you feel free and connected to the world around you.
Because plants gave you
your first breath of life,
and you will give your last one back to them.
Everything in between is
one great dance of life itself.
The future is wild
and plant-based
But there is more. I’m so strongly convinced about the power of plants that I believe they will take up an increasingly important role in the future. In our food, but also to support our health.
Because the future, isn’t that where
we’ll all spend the rest of our lives?
Want de toekomst, daar gaan we allemaal
de rest van ons leven doorbrengen, toch?
All recipes are therefore 100% plant-based, and allergy-friendly as well. In the live sessions I use organic ingredients as much as possible.
